enlightenment is a state as the difference between - and +, and it is permanent, it is the absence of thought. These thoughts stem from a belief in individual self, the belief disappears as soon as there is more thought, more suffering from the mental fermentations, more desires attached to an ego, more hatred. there before and after awakening, before it is either a listener or a bodhisattva, after arahant. A bodhisattva is someone who has found enlightenment on his own, a listener is someone who has been taught enlightenment.
